When to Hire a Personal Trainer?

If you’re reading this, you’re probably thinking to yourself:

Is it time for me to hire a personal trainer?

Or should I keep going at it alone and see how far it takes me?

Here at Left Coast Fitness, we always think it’s a good time to hire a personal trainer (of course!).

However, there are a few questions you can ask yourself to help determine one way or the other if it’s truly the right time to hire a personal trainer for you.

Let’s dive in.

WHEN TO HIRE A PERSONAL TRAINER?
  1. Do You Need Accountability? Hiring a personal trainer is a great way to hold yourself accountable if you’ve found yourself skipping workouts or eating unhealthily. If you’ve invested money and there’s a personal trainer waiting for you at the gym, chances are you won’t slack off.

  2. Are You Bored? If you’re like most people, you’re likely doing the same cardio and strength routine day-in and day-out at the gym which can lead to boredom and failed excuses. Hiring a personal trainer is a great way to mix up your routine and try things that you would not have tried before.

  3. Are You Trying to Reach a Goal? As we age, getting in shape gets harder. Or perhaps, we’ve exhausted all of the things that we can do on our own. Hiring a personal trainer can help you push past a plateau, rethink/ restructure your routine, and help you get results that have eluded you so far.

  4. Are You Demotivated? Sometimes it’s hard - even lonely - to work out by yourself each day. A personal trainer can help push you past your limits, even farther than you had originally planned.

  5. Do You Want Something More Personalized? While free YouTube workouts are great for vacation or a quick at-home exercise, they probably aren’t the best way to reach your specific goals. After all, they are “training” hundreds of thousands of different bodies, metabolisms, personalities, and goals! A good personal trainer will do an assessment of your physical condition and build a program FOR YOU that will help you get results in a more effective and efficient way.  At Left Coast Fitness, we do assessments on all of our prospective clients and set up a five-part program to get you on your way to optimal health.

  6. Not Sure Where To Start? If you’ve been out of the gym for a long time or are even just starting out for the first time, it can be overwhelming to know whether you’re doing all of the right things. Hiring a personal trainer is a great way to get the fundamentals in place: the correct form, the correct diet, and learn the ropes of a new workout before setting out on your own.

  7. Are You Dealing With Injury? You can still exercise while injured—you just need particular help to not make it worse. That’s where a personal trainer comes in! Personal trainers know good technique and will watch for it while you exercise.  They can help you with old injuries and help prevent new ones.

  8. Do You Want A Healthier Lifestyle? The great thing about good personal trainers is that they are well-connected to other health professionals like chiropractors, nutritionists, stretch specialists, and so on. When you hire a personal trainer to improve one area of your life, you will end up committing to an overall healthier lifestyle and wellbeing.

Did you answer YES to any of these questions? It might be a good time to hire a personal trainer! If you’re in the Campbell, CA, and San Jose area, simply take our quick questionnaire and we’ll match you with the best fit personal trainer for you.
